Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into our Terms, outlines our privacy practices in connection with your use of our websites and any related applications and services (together, the “Website” or “Service”). "You" or "your" may refer to either "Job Seekers" who are searching or applying for jobs, "Employers" who are posting jobs (including both the individual user posting the job opportunity and any company or business identified in the job posts), or any other users who are accessing or using the Service.

What does this Privacy Policy cover?

This Privacy Policy explains how we, Joblist LLC (“Joblist,” “we,” or “us”), collect, use, and disclose information. We control the data collected and used through this Website. In certain circumstances, we are acting as a service provider or processor for third parties, such as to connect Job Seekers and Employers via the Service.

This Privacy Policy only applies to our Website, Service, and where we control data collection and use. It does not apply to any third-party websites, actions, or offers (together, “Third-Party Services”), regardless of links or connections through the Website. We do not control Third-Party Services, which have their own separate privacy practices.

Through our Service, Employers can post job listings and Job Seekers can review and apply. We do not own or provide our own job listings through the Service. If you select a job listing using the Service, we will either redirect you to the website of the third party that owns or otherwise controls that job listing, or you may apply for the job through the Service and your information will be submitted via email to the respective Employer that posted the job.

We collect and use information primarily to provide and improve the Service. For example, when you visit our Website, you may provide information to us to use the Service, and we may also generate technical device and cookie data. This allows us to provide and market our offerings. Generally, we share information with our service providers and any partners to facilitate our Service and show offers that may be of interest to you. We care about user privacy and employ measures for data security and to respond to consumer privacy requests, such as to access information we have collected about you, delete your information, and opt out of certain practices. Read each section below for more information.

When do we collect your information?

Generally, we collect personal information when you provide it, such as when a user searches on the Service, when an Employer posts a job, when a Job Seeker applies for a job, when you contact us through customer service, or when you sign up to receive job alerts or customized offers and voluntarily provide your name and email address. Like many websites, we also obtain technical and device information when you visit or use the Website. Further, if you create and use an account, such as through your email or using Google sign-in/up, we may collect related information made available by third parties, as described below; and if you create, use, edit, or publicize a "joblist," we collect information related to your activity. We may also receive your information from other users if they provide it; for example, when a user shares your email address to invite you to collaborate on a joblist.

Joblist collects other types of information, such as device, internet, and geolocation information from technical processes, such as when you access the Service and your browser sends device and/or internet information. We may also collect information through content you make public outside of the Website, such as when you interact with us through social media, such as by posting a review about Joblist or tagging Joblist in your own post. The information collected off the Website may be combined with information collected through the Website. Additionally, if you engage with us on social media or use features such as plugins, widgets, or other tools made available by social media platforms or networks (including Linkedin, Facebook/Meta, Instagram, and Twitter) in connection with our Website, we collect information that you disclose to us, or that the social media platforms disclose to us. For more information about the privacy practices of those social media platforms, please review their separate privacy policies and your settings for the social media platforms you use.

What categories of information do we collect?

Typically, we collect information that is relevant to the Service. For example, we may collect your name, email address, phone number, and mailing address. This information is collected when you provide it to use the Service.

More specifically, we may collect the following categories of personal information when you use the Service:

If you post a job as an Employer, we collect the job description, your company name and logo, and relevant data about the job. We collect information about your order and transaction, and when you provide payment information, such as your credit or debit card number. Payments are handled through Stripe (we do not see or store your payment method); for more information, see Stripe's Privacy Policy. Further, you select a delivery method for applications, such as email (i.e., the application is submitted on the Website and emailed to you) or external link (i.e., the Job Seeker is redirected to the external link that you provide). You must also provide a billing email address and delivery email address if you select to have applications emailed to you.

If you apply for a job as a Job Seeker, the information we collect depends on the Employer's delivery method. You may be immediately redirected to the Employer's website, or you may provide information for us to transfer to the Employer via email. If the latter, we collect your first and last name, email address, and resume (via upload or text field), which may in turn include identifiers and contact information; professional, education, and employment information; and protected class information, and you may choose to provide a phone number and cover letter. You understand that this information will be shared with the respective Employer. You should not submit any information that you do not want disclosed. We also collect information if you use other features of the Service. If you sign up for job alerts, you provide us with your name and email address. If you create or use an account, such as through your email or using Google sign-in/up, we collect information relating to your sign-in/up, such as your first and last name, email address(es), job preferences, job history/resume, phone number, and home location; and if you create, use, edit, or publicize a joblist, we collect information related to your activity. If you click on a listing that redirects to a Third-Party Service, you will be redirected to that site, and we may collect related data from the third party.

Public Information, such as when you post a review or comment. Once you submit information publicly, including if you post a job or if you submit a job application, neither you nor Joblist is able to control how it may be copied, shared, or used by other parties, even if you later want to try to delete it. In other words, you should carefully consider what to make public in the first place. You are responsible for ensuring that you have all necessary rights to provide, upload, or share content using the Service and that it does not contain any sensitive personal information or data you do not want shared.

Technical Information, for example, we may collect your IP address, navigation and click-stream data, browser type, browser version, information about the operating system or type of device you use, the device ID associated with your device, the date and time you access the Website, your login attempts, the pages of our Website that you visit, the time spent on those pages, your mobile operating system, and unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data. We may also gather certain information automatically and store it in log files, including IP addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data. Likewise, we may also collect information about your browsing history, search history, and information regarding your interaction with a particular website, application, or advertisement, including the Website. We may collect information regarding the website, application, or advertisement you visited immediately before and after your use of the Website. Further, we may collect information about where you are located. For example, we may collect your approximate location from your IP address.

Other Information, such as your communications to us, your responses to any promotions, or non-personalized information like public or aggregate data. You should take caution in publicizing or uploading any sensitive information. We also collect aggregate funnel data, such as information about your views, clicks, and applications. Joblist may also create new information about you by drawing inferences from the information identified above.

How is your information used?

Generally, we use information to provide and improve the Service, to personalize the user experience, and for relevant marketing.

Specifically, we may use personal information for these reasons:

Providing the Service, such as to operate and provide the Website, including to process your requests, to connect Employers and Job Seekers, to analyze data and use in ranking, and to provide other features of the Service.

Improving the Service, such as to review whether new services or features are desired. For example, if users repeatedly make the same recommendation, or if we collect aggregate information through the use of cookies, we may use that information in adding new services or features to the Service.

Personalizing the Service, such as using cookies or other technologies to save certain data for limited periods of time, so you do not need to enter it again. We also use information about your account and saved listings to allow you to save and review job listings.

Communications, such as to respond to your requests or questions or send you customized offers. This may include business-related or legal communications, replies to your inquiries, or marketing communications (which are outlined further below).

Security and Auditing, such as to detect security incidents, protect against malicious, fraudulent, or illegal activity, and to take action if applicable. We may also use information to authenticate requests or for other security reasons.

Comply with Legal Obligations, such as to comply with a court order or subpoena or to transfer privacy requests to relevant third parties.

For Aggregate Data, meaning we may combine your information with that of other users to create "Aggregate Data" - namely, statistical information about all users or a subset thereof. Aggregate Data is pseudonymized and deidentified, i.e., it cannot be used to identify, relate to, describe, be capable of being associated with, or be linked directly or indirectly to a particular consumer. Aggregate Data may be used by Joblist for the business and commercial purposes listed in this Privacy Policy.

Marketing to You, such as to share relevant content with you using your contact information, or to deliver ads via the Website, which may use information gathered through cookies and other technologies. If you provide your email address or sign up on our Website, we may send you promotional and marketing emails. Likewise, we may use your information to draw inferences about your preferences.

Advertising, such as by reviewing user choices to determine what offers may be interesting to others or to feature public reviews or posts about us.

Other Uses as authorized by law if you have provided consent or submitted a request. For example, we may use your contact information if you sign up for a promotion.

These uses further our business purposes as reasonably necessary and proportionate to our operations, such as the provision and protection of the Service, as well as commercial purposes, such as marketing relevant offerings. We similarly process your information pursuant to our legal bases in providing and improving the Service, communicating with you, complying with our legal obligations, preventing fraud, advertising to you, promoting safety and security, responding to requests—with your consent—where necessary to perform a contract, where processing is necessary to protect you or another person’s vital or legitimate interests if not overridden by fundamental rights or freedoms, and where necessary to comply with a legal obligation.

‍How is your information disclosed to others?

Generally, we disclose information for the same business and commercial reasons that we collect and use information, such as to post Employer’s jobs, to connect Job Seekers with Employers, provide and improve the Service, to comply with legal obligations, and for relevant marketing.

Specifically, we may disclose information under these circumstances:

To Job Seekers and Joblist Partners, such as sharing job posting information, including company name/logo and job description to Job Seekers. We may also share this information with our partners to display on their site to broaden visibility to potential candidates.

To Employers, including your job application, name, contact information, and resume (and any cover letter) to respective Employers via email (unless you are redirected to a site provided by the Employer to apply for the job).

To Service Providers or Contractors, such as email or hosting services or customer support, who may review information you provide or that is part of your use of the Service to assist us in providing the Service to you. We may disclose information for purposes related to our Service, such as to provide information to service providers, for security purposes, to personalize user experience, and to analyze aggregate data.

To Legal Parties, who may require disclosure of data as authorized by applicable law in response to a subpoena, court order, or other legal process. This may include transfer of information to relevant third parties to fulfill a privacy or other legal request. We may also disclose information if we believe it is necessary to prevent or remedy illegal or harmful misconduct, including to law enforcement or to our legal, professional, or other advisors. We may disclose information to comply with Joblist’s legal obligations and prevent illegal or harmful misconduct.

To Marketing Partners, affiliates, platforms, advertisers, or third parties, who may obtain information, such as data you provide in an unidentifiable form as well as device, internet, and technical information, such as your IP address or marketing ID, to display job posting information on their site to provide personalized and other advertisements that may be of interest to you, including through email if you subscribe to our content, and other users. We may disclose information to advertise to you, such as through personalized advertisements. Additionally, if you interact with Joblist through a social media platform (e.g., click “Like” on one of our posts on Facebook or Instagram), that information may be shared with the social media company. Social media and marketing platforms, like Meta, Google, and Bing, may also use information in an unidentifiable form, so that we can create relevant advertising for new and existing users who may be interested in the Service.

To Third Parties or the Public, if the information is public, such as a review posted about us online, or if it cannot reasonably identify or be linked to you, such as aggregate data used to evaluate the Service and users as a whole. We may disclose public information in marketing or advertising efforts to others.

To Related Parties, if we are involved in an acquisition, merger, sale, or similar transaction, in which case we may transfer or assign your information.

To Others, due to your request or consent and as authorized by law.

For Data Selling or Sharing, for the purposes described and as outlined to you in this Privacy Policy. Specifically, certain transfers of data through cookies and similar technologies may be considered selling or sharing under certain laws (which may or may not apply to us or to you under various legal thresholds). You may opt out of such practices by using opt-out links on our Website (which will be displayed to certain users, if required by applicable legislation) or contacting us as outlined below.

Do we use cookies or automated technologies?

We, like many websites, may use cookies (files that are placed on your computer or electronic device when you visit a website), pixels, web beacons, and similar technologies to automatically collect certain device, internet, browser, and geolocation information when you use the Website.

Collected data may include mobile device identifier or MAC address, ISP or carrier information, date and time you access the Website, the pages you visit, and whether you click on certain content or advertisements. We may use this information to personalize parts of the Service, determine when content is accessed, and customize advertisements. These technologies may include necessary and preference cookies, such as to display the Website and comply with preferences set by you, as well as analytics and advertising cookies, such as to understand how users use the Service and to deliver ads.

Joblist may also use third-party cookies to improve the Website and your user experience and advertise offers of interest to you. In other words, your information may be shared with these third parties and vice versa. For example, the Website contains third-party cookies to collect information, analyze aggregate activity, and show personalized ads.

In particular, we may use cookies from Meta and Google for analytics purposes, to improve the Service and your experience with the Service, and advertising. Cookie and similar information may be shared with these third parties; for more information visit Google Cookie Policy, Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-On, Ads Settings, and Meta/Facebook Cookie Policy.

You may also opt out of cookies or change your cookie settings in your internet browser or disable similar tracking technologies in your mobile phone or other device. Resources for these technologies and opting out include: All About Cookies, Your Ad Choices, App Choices.

Note the Website does not currently respond to DNT requests (DNT is a feature offered by some browsers which, when enabled, sends a signal to websites to request that your browsing is not tracked).

Do we collect information about children?

We do not knowingly collect personal information about children under the age of 13. If we obtain actual knowledge that we have collected personal information about children under the age of 13, we will delete that information.

How is your information protected and retained?

While we use reasonable security measures and tools that are designed to be a security safeguard, and we take data security seriously, no system or website can be 100% secure. You should not expect that information communicated using our Service or the internet generally will be secure. You are responsible for maintaining the security and confidentiality of your accounts and devices and should immediately notify us if you believe there has been a relevant security breach.

We will retain your information for the length of time necessary to fulfill the business and commercial purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy or as otherwise authorized by law, considering these factors: ongoing services or open requests; legal obligations for data retention; and other relevant considerations, including legal agreements and any pending inquiries.
