They work with tree-ring dating, time-lapse photography, specimen logging, and radioisotope analysis of organic remains to develop information on past climates and growing conditions. Other duties may include interpreting aerial photos to determine the location of woodlands or clear-cutting operations that change timber availability in a specified area.
