In addition to overseeing the outsourcing of transaction processes such as receiving incoming cash and making outgoing payments, they may also serve in a financial advisory role to the head of the institution. Bursars provide oversight over matters such as budgeting processes and reporting budgets of fiscal year losses in a transparent manner for review by board members. Additionally, he or she may work with enrollment management staff to ensure that budgets are appropriate with regards to average student expense related to tuition costs.
